Gryazin wins in Czech Republic. In “Val d’Orcia” excellent signals from Emanuele Dati, top ten overall, but also from Baruffa and Tonelli, the latter among the “historic” ones.

New international satisfaction for Movisport, last weekend, by Nikolay Gryazin and the Volkswagen Polo GTi R5. The Russian driver raced – and won – the 39th edition of the Kowax Valašská Rally ValMez 2021, the first round of the Czech Republic National Championship, a race used as a useful training on asphalt in view of the next world championship round in Croatia. Paired with Konstantin Alexandrov, the strong Russian driver was thrilled as never before, having preceded home drivers Jan Kopecky and Filip Mares, both on Skoda Fabia R5 Evo, at the finish line. Gryazin set the best time in 8 out of 10 special stages , with the remaining two won by Kopecky. The feat was confirmed by the fact that Jan Kopecky in the last 2 editions had won all the special stages and was making his debut in the race.
Satisfaction at the Val d’Orcia Rally.
Satisfaction also came “from the earth”, for the Reggio association, which had four crews in the “modern” and one in the “historic” part of the 12th edition of the Rally Val d’Orcia, third round of the Challenge Raceday Rally Terra, in Radicofani (Siena). A race that, however, also recorded some disappointments.
The “author’s land” brought satisfaction to Emanuele Dati, always flanked by Giacomo Ciucci, who returned again with the Ford Fiesta R5. Dati, who returned to racing after 10 years at the recent “Valle del Tevere”, wanted above all to continue to pick up pace with the “blue oval” car and to get rid of the rust of the long stop and definitely succeeded in the company, finishing in the absolute top ten, in ninth place, declaring himself satisfied with the work done in the future.
Bad luck instead for Andrea Maselli and Milena Danese, with the Hyundai i20 R5. They had “booked” a prominent place in the standings after the crystalline performance offered at the end of February at the “Valle del Tevere”, where they finished in fourth position, also wanting to repeat the exploit of 2020 (finished third), but unfortunately the race started badly suffered, with a turbo problem during the second test, and then raised the white flag at mid-day, causing problems with the power steering.
Luca Hoelbling had no better luck, this time with Alberto Zanchi, on the usual Hyundai i20 R5. Hoelbling wanted to revive the glories of 2017, when he finished second overall in a Skoda but unfortunately had to throw in the towel at the end of the race, right on the last stage, due to exhaust problems. Until then, the Veronese, thanks to a constant and incisive pace, had confirmed his competitiveness on the Sienese roads even with a high-level parterre and with as many as 35 R5 class cars.
Mission accomplished, on the other hand, for Giovanni Benvenuto Baruffa and Simone Brachi who finished the race with a 37th overall position (out of the 91 crews at the start), which allowed them to conquer the first place in the ranking of the young Under 25 cars among the two cars. drive wheels, together with third place in the R2C class reserved for cars up to 1333 cc turbo like their Peugeot 208 Rally4. The main objective at the start was to continue learning about the new car, the Pirelli tires and the harmony between the crew, who after this race made seven appearances between the end of 2020 and the beginning of 2021. Together with the concrete final result the Siena rally allowed the couple and the whole Baldon Rally team to increase their experience in anticipation of the demanding season in the FIA European Rally Championship which will start in just over a month in the Azores.
The Rally Storico della Val d’Orcia was the first act of the Italian Rally Terra Storico Championship, where Movisport has its standard bearer in Andrea Tonelli, together with his faithful Roberto Debbi, on the Ford Escort RS 1800 MKII. And the tricolor adventure started with the right attitude, for the Reggiano, just back from a performance that saw him close behind the absolute podium, author of a solid performance. Tonelli, signatory of the fourth place in the general classification as well as of the second in the third group and in the 4/2000 class, proved to be very comfortable with the new evolutions made on the car, which will certainly lead him to play a leading role in the season.
