IN ROME VICTORY FOR BASSO AND GRANAI, CRUGNOLA IS SECOND!

An important crossroads for the events of the top national rally series, the Capitoline race, saw the driver from Treviso sign an encore of successes, but above all reopen well the events of the Championship, where Andrea Crugnola has experienced bad luck again and where he is doing honor also Giacomo Scattolon.

Apotheosis Movisport, in Rome, for the important crossroads of the Italian Championship, where the Reggio colors returned to the top of the standings thanks to the victory of Giandomenico Basso and Lorenzo Granai in their Skoda Fabia R5. For the Venetian-Tuscan couple it is an encore after the 2019 laurel in the Capital race, which has reopened the ranking events as best as possible, passing to the lead with force.

The Roman race was constantly a dualism between Basso and the other Movisport standard bearer, Andrea Crugnola, flanked by Pietro Ometto, who had managed to leap to the lead before being slowed down in the second stage by a puncture with a lot of time left on the road. however, which did not stop him from finishing second.

Movisport is therefore the “master” of the tricolor situation in Rome with two thirds of the absolute podium and certainly in contention for the championship, having at its disposal much of the best of national rallying in terms of drivers.

Giacomo Scattolon was also looking for heavy points, in the compact CIRA classification, and in addition to him Marco Pollara also had aims of rebirth, after a disappointing and for him a liar. The driver from Pavia, flanked by Giovanni Bernacchini, finished in second final position despite some difficulties in adapting, thus giving a jolt to the provisional ranking. To complete the crystalline performance of the Pavese there is then the eleventh overall position, which is worth gold.

Also from Marco Pollara, paired with Mangiarotti, with a show of strength on the roads of Lazio the push definitely came, with the best result of the season, the right sprint to get back into the game well for the championship finale. The Sicilian, with the Fabia R5, finished with a brilliant fourth place, certainly refreshing. The other Movisport exponent, Rudy Michelini, was missing from the series, who was absent for work reasons.

The “continental” aims for Umberto Scandola did not have the desired effect. The race, which the Veronese also won in the recent past, did not satisfy the pilot, extemporaneously flanked by Danilo Fappani, in place of Guido D’Amore, recovering from the accident in north-eastern Europe two weeks ago, causing him to end up in a not satisfactory 13th absolute position. Still from an ERC perspective, the performance of Nikolay Gryazin and Konstantin Aleksandrov, at the start with the Volkswagen Polo R5, did not satisfy, with the Russian crew already fastest of all in the qualifying test for the starting order, then penalized in the early stages of the race from a puncture that ousted him from the top fight for the rest of the race, finishing only 24th overall. However, some good top speed performances remained, confirming its value.

Crocevia importante per le vicende della massima serie nazionale di rally, la gara capitolina, ha visto il pilota trevigiano siglare il bis di successi, ma soprattutto riaprire bene le vicende del Campionato, dove Andrea Crugnola ha conosciuto di nuovo sfortuna e dove si sta facendo onore anche Giacomo Scattolon.

Apoteosi Movisport, a Roma, per l’importante crocevia del Campionato Italiano, dove i colori reggiani sono tornati al comando della classifica grazie alla vittoria di Giandomenico Basso e Lorenzo Granai sulla loro Skoda Fabia R5. Per la coppia veneto-toscana è il bis dopo l’alloro del 2019 nella gara capitolina, che ha riaperto al meglio possibile le vicende di classifica, passando al comando con forza.

La gara romana è stata costantemente un dualismo tra Basso e l’altro portacolori di Movisport, Andrea Crugnola, affiancato da Pietro Ometto, il quale era riuscito a balzare al comando prima di venire rallentato nella seconda tappa da una foratura con tanto tempo lasciato per strada, cosa che non gli ha comunque impedito di finire secondo.

Movisport dunque “padrona” della situazione tricolore di Roma con due terzi del podio assoluto e certamente in lizza per lo scudetto, avendo a disposizione molto del meglio del rallismo nazionale in termini di piloti.

Cercavano punti pesanti anche Giacomo Scattolon, nella compatta classifica del CIRA, ed oltre a lui aveva mire di rinascita anche Marco Pollara, dopo un avvio stagionale deludente e per lui bugiardo. Il pavese, affiancato da Giovanni Bernacchini, ha finito in seconda posizione finale nonostante qualche difficoltà di adattamento, dunque dando uno scossone al ranking provvisorio. A completare la prestazione cristallina del pavese vi è poi l’undicesima posizione assoluta, che vale oro.

Anche da Marco Pollara, in coppia con Mangiarotti, con una prova di forza sulle strade del Lazio la spinta è decisamente arrivata, con il miglior risultato della stagione, sprint giusto per rimettersi in gioco bene per il finale del campionato. Il siciliano, con la Fabia R5, ha finito con un brillante quarto posto sicuramente rinfrancante. Nella serie mancava l’altro esponente di Movisport, Rudy Michelini, assente per motivi di lavoro.

Le mire “continentali” per Umberto Scandola non hanno sortito l’effetto desiderato. La gara, che peraltro il veronese ha pure vinto nel recente passato non ha soddisfatto il pilota, estemporaneamente affiancato da Danilo Fappani, in luogo di Guido D’Amore, convalescente proprio dall’incidente nel nord est Europa due settimane fa, facendolo finire in una non soddisfacente 13^ posizione assoluta. Sempre in ottica ERC, anche la prestazione di Nikolay Gryazin e Konstantin Aleksandrov, al via con la Volkswagen Polo R5, non ha soddisfatto, con l’equipaggio russo già più veloce di tutti nella prova di qualifica per l’ordine di partenza, poi penalizzato nelle prime battute di gara da una foratura che lo ha estromesso dalla lotta di vertice per il resto della gara, finendo soltanto 24° assoluto. Sono però rimaste alcune belle prestazioni velocistiche di vertice, conferma del proprio valore.
