Gryazin/Aleksandrov and Brazzoli/Fenoli both in third place in their respective rankings, despite some bad luck, overturned with decisive and consistent performances.
Reggio Emilia, January the 25th 2022
The first world championship outing of the year for Movisport, which in the weekend just passed, saw two of its color bearers debut in the 2022 world championship series. The start of the famous Rallye Montecarlo, now in its 90th edition, with Gryazin-Aleksandrov (in the WRC-2) and Brazzoli-Fenoli, the latter in the WRC3 category, aiming for the drivers’ title and also for that for the teams together with the team.
Both crews finished on the podium, finishing third in their respective categories.
Nikolay Gryazin, at the start with Team Tok Sport’s Skoda Fabia Rally2, finished third in WRC-2 with a progressing performance, after an unlucky start. A rear “touch” during the second test had literally made him sink in the standings with more than two minutes lost, only to see the Russian driver make a powerful comeback that took him over the podium. The performance therefore showed that the Russian driver can be one of the favorites to win the category.
“After the dramatic moments of the second round – commented Gryazin – we were able to balance our performance between fast and safe driving, finishing the race as well as possible with important performances in each test.
This was our first race as an official competitor for Tok Sport which I want to thank very much for the work done. There isn’t much to say, just that they are a perfect team with a perfect car! “
Brazzoli also made an excellent start to the world championship third in WRC-3, thus acquiring the first championship points of the season, at the end of a difficult race at the start, but completed with determination. Already winner of the WRC3 world title in 2018 (and also world champion in the GT category in 2019), Brazzoli returned to compete on a permanent basis in the category, restarting with new stimuli and a new car, the Ford Fiesta Rally 3 of the young and dynamic Italian JME Team. An important result achieved, that of the driver from Cuneo, despite a first stage characterized by the breakdown of the gearbox, then replaced with great skill by the team technicians, allowing him to restart for the second day and finish the Monegasque competition with satisfaction.
“We are very satisfied with this result – comments Brazzoli – achieved despite a first stage slowed down by the breakdown of the gearbox, which was then replaced with great skill by the guys in our Team, allowing us to restart for the second day. New car that proved to be very performing, both in terms of engine and in terms of set-up and test after test allowed us to improve the feeling. Undoubtedly we should still work but we started very well!
I want to thank my navigator Manuel Fenoli all the team of Marco Savini, Movisport, my scouts who have done an excellent and decisive job, and all the sponsors who allow all this “.
