Race number 55, still with Ktm bikes, the fourth participation of the Turin rider in the race, produced a new satisfaction for the Reggio colors.
Reggio Emilia, 15th of January, 2022
Yesterday, in Jeddah, the checkered flag of the 44th edition of the “Dakar”, which started on the first day of the year, waved, and also for Movisport, for his standard bearer, the 52-year-old from Turin Cesare Zacchetti, one of the drivers from off road and big marathons on two wheels best known in Italy.
Movisport was still alongside the well-known Piedmontese driver who was not new to commitments with a strong adventurous impact and international scope, one of the most prominent “private” pilots in Italy, who was in his fourth “Dakar”. He raced it again in the saddle of a KTM and finished it in the best possible way, in 66th overall position out of 124 arrived, second among the Italians at the start and 14th in the special Original by Motul classification reserved for riders who have ran the entire race without assistance.
Together with his trusty KTM he covered 8,000 km, of which 4,300 km of special stages divided into 13 stages, crossing the wild territory of Saudi Arabia. Desert, sand, rock and paths full of dangers were the characteristics of this year’s edition which proved to be very difficult and certainly not free from problems including bad weather.
Halfway through the race, after a week of challenges Zacchetti got a heavy penalty for exceeding the speed limit imposed by a “speed limit” control, otherwise the final position could have been much higher in the standings.
