A weekend marked by the Reggio colors, in Finland, where the team returned to second place in the world championship standings for the teams, thanks to Teemu Suninen’s victory in WRC-2 and also to the great performance of Nikolay Gryazin
Reggio Emilia, October 5th – 2021
The world championship event in Finland, the Rally Finland WRC, a classic gravel rally that has always made fans and experts dream of, this year was raced a lot under the Movisport colors. The Reggio-based brand, in fact, last weekend broke the game table by winning the race classification for the WRC-2 category with Teemu Suninen – Mikko Markkula and their Volkswagen Polo GTi R5, also authors of a great eighth place overall.
Feeling is really good now, we made some big changes for this rally. It’s nice to be in a good, proper team that is working well. We will be in Spain in two weeks for the next rally.
Movisport then took the victory among the teams, thus returning to second place in the overall two tests from the end of the season, with 162 points, also thanks to the perfect performance of the other rider in the race Nikolay Gryazin, paired with Konstantin Aleksandrov, who finished sixth in WRC-2, thus being able to progress in the provisional ranking in fifth place.
We always aim high… and long… 😉✈️😎🇷🇺 Not the result we wanted but made the best out of it! Amazing rally, excellent organization, and finnish fans were fantastic as always! Kiitos! @rallyfinland @officialwrc Also thanks to our sponsors @redbull_rus @scuderia_movisport And both of the teams that were collaborating in this rally @printsportracing@sportsracingtechnologies
Vibrant satisfactions, mirror and confirmation of the choices made by the technical and sports management of the association in the international arena, where the name Movisport is now a certainty.
Umberto Scandola fast and unlucky in Portugal, for the FIA ERC.
Precisely the Serras de Fafe Rally, sixth round of the ERC Championship, on gravel. Last weekend Umberto Scandola was again busy, always with Danilo Fappani at his side, on the Hyundai i20 R5. After having scored a high-level result in the Azores Islands two weeks earlier, with the sixth position overall, the Scaligero driver was looking for confirmation. Confirmations that they were coming in a new race for him and run in prohibitive weather conditions. Ninth overall for five special stages, unfortunately he had to stop due to a broken drive shaft. At that point Scandola and Fappani opted to return for the last stage on Sunday, another eight special stages, putting in some excellent times such as the third scratch in the penultimate stage, but the delay in the standings was too heavy to be recovered even in part. Without the 30 ‘penalty, Scandola-Fappani would have finished on the third step of the podium in a very demanding rally that saw many retirements.
